CPA Funding Opportunities
Commonwealth Parliamentary Association members can apply as individual Branches or entire Regions for various funding opportunities. These are based around our networks and cover our cross-cutting themes of environmental resilience, ensuring equal representation of women in Commonwealth Legislatures, creating accessible Parliaments and supporting capacity building for small jurisdictions. The grants available for 2025 are as follows:
- The Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Regional Strengthening Funds are annual grants made available to each of the CPA’s nine Regions to advance the CWP’s mission to ‘promote the representation of women in CPA Branches and women's full and equal participation in political and parliamentary leadership at all levels.'
- The CPA Small Branches Regional Initiative Fund (RIF), established in 2019 by the CPA Secretariat, empowers small jurisdictions to enhance their legislative capacity and effectiveness. The fund aligns with the CPA’s Strategic Objective to ‘Strengthen the capacity and maximise the effectiveness of Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff and enable mutual learning.’
- The Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities (CPwD) Capital Investment Fund is a reserve of funding established by the CPA Secretariat in 2021 with the aim of raising the accessibility of CPA member Parliaments to persons with disabilities. The priorities for the Fund include but are not limited to, improving the physical accessibility of Parliaments or the procurement of assistive technology.
- New for 2025: This year, the CPA is launching the Environmental Impact Fund. This fund will finance projects in CPA Branches that adhere to environmental best practices and align with the CPA’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. A central aim of the Fund is to support member Branches in their efforts towards achieving net-zero emissions, in line with global sustainability efforts.
